The holiday season is right around the corner, and with it comes an excellent opportunity to boost sales at your gas station and convenience store. Unfortunately, this is often easier said than done. If you’ve noticed a significant decline in foot traffic but don’t have a lot of extra money to throw into marketing, consider making a few simple adjustments around your store.
Mobile coupons and text offers. A 2018 study by Pew Research found that 77% of Americans have smartphones, and they do everything on them, from catching up with friends and family to shopping. If you aren’t already running some type of mobile campaign, there’s no better time to start.
Fresh, healthy, grab-n-go options. Americans want healthier food options. Fast food has reigned supreme for decades, but millennials and Gen Zers want nutritious, all-natural snacks that are as healthy as they are convenient. If all your store carries is chips, candy, and jerky, you’ll get left behind. Fruits, vegetables, hummus, and snack trays with lean proteins can make a splash, as can flavored waters, sugar-free teas, and kombucha.
Seasonal decorations. How inviting is your c-store? Subtle decorations can make your operation feel more welcoming. You don’t have to go all out, but hanging a seasonal decoration or running some colorful lights behind the cash register can go a long way in setting a good first impression.
