Where does the time go? The year is quickly coming to a close, and that means spring is right around the corner. If you have a son or daughter who plans on graduating in 2021, encourage them to apply for a WPMA award merit scholarship.
As one of our expanding services to members, the WPMA merit scholarship program awards a $4,000 scholarship to a deserving student within each of our seven WPMA member states, and one to a student from an associate member company.
To qualify, an applicant must be a graduating senior and the son or daughter of a full-time employee whose primary residence is located within the WPMA member state; or a graduating high school senior who is the son or daughter of an associate member or of a full-time permanent employee.
Applying is easy and hassle-free. Simply visit our website and download the scholarship application in PDF form. Once you do, print it and fill it out. Take the time to fill out each section, including your family’s financial information, any unusual circumstances that have affected your performance in school, and your relevant work experience.
You’ll also need to include your transcript information, including your current GPA and your SAT or ACT score. Additionally, you’ll need a high school or college counselor, advisor or work supervisor to fill out the final section about your work ethic and performance in the classroom.
Once you finish filling the application out, submit it to the WPMA office. Send your envelope to P.O. Box 571500, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84157-1500 prior to March 1, 2021.
In early March, a committee of independent WPMA members reviews all of the applications. Incomplete applications aren’t considered. The committee uses a special rating sheet to evaluate your application, taking into account several factors, including your SAT or ACT score, your financial need, and extracurricular and community activities.
