Fall is officially here and with it, some of the most beautiful foliage in all of the United States. Although Washington is often referred to as the Evergreen State, this time of year still boasts reds, golds and oranges galore. If you’re someone who loves getting outdoors and spending time in nature, the next few weeks present an amazing opportunity to see Mother Nature put on quite the show. Here are three locations that we highly recommend checking out:
Leavenworth, WA. This unique mountain town located in the heart of the Cascades boasts European flavor and breathtaking views of the Wenatchee River. It’s also home to The Leavenworth Autumn Leaf Festival and Parade. While you’re there, make sure to try some of the local wines. They’re simply to-die-for.
Mount Rainier National Park. Even if you’ve been to Mount Rainier in the past, the fall colors provide another level of depth and beauty. Even better? Tourist season is over, which means you can avoid the long lines and traffic jams often associated with summer. Don’t forget to bring a camera!
Columbia River Gorge. This one’s on the Washington-Oregon border, but it’s undoubtedly worth the drive. Just outside of Hood River, the Columbia River Gorge spans some 80 miles and is home to mountain vistas, views of the Columbia River and foliage that’s as bright as Fourth of July fireworks.
